HiStory is My Story
Who is Reg Ransom?
Not many agents can boast the history of real estate when it comes to understanding the market and what it takes to sell and survive in the elite western suburbs property market, in any decade, throughout any boom or bust.
Not only that, Reg has been a part of shaping Perth’s real estate history with many great accomplishments since 1972. Commencing his career in real estate with the Bond Corporation in 1972, he then joined Richards & Co in 1975 before progressing to Sales Manager of Joseph Charles Learmonth & Duffy in Nedlands in 1979. In 1983 he joined Browne Grove & Associates in Claremont where he remained a Partner/Director for the next 24 years.
Throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s Reg’s property prowess was recognised by many top companies including the Bond Corporation who engaged him as one of their real estate property advisers to buy selective river properties in the 80s and 90s and piece them together into Super Blocks.
Sales History at a Glimpse
From Dalkeith to Claremont, Cottesloe to Peppermint Grove, Reg has been a part of some of the largest deals in Perth creating new records in real estate sales history. In 1980 he sold Sir Gordon and Lady Freeth’s riverfront property in Victoria Avenue, Dalkeith on 4358m2 which was the highest price for single storey single residential in Australia at the time .
To name a few, Reg has also been involved in the sales of properties for the likes of the Edgley family of the Moscow Circus/Bolshoi Ballet fame, at 54 Jutland Parade (Mrs Edna Edgley) in 1981 for $1.71m and her son Michael’s property at 64 Jutland for $7.5m in 1989.
In 1993 Reg jointly sold Alan Bond’s mansion in Watkins Road on 6406m2 of land with over 2900m2 of accommodation including basement for 10 vehicles for $7.4m.
In 1989 he was involved in selling part of the Super Block in Victoria Avenue (10,338m2 of land) for a prominent family after having sold them a river property in Brae Road, Claremont.
In 2007 Reg successfully auctioned a family property at 2 Jutland Parade and sold it under the hammer as auctioneer for a record price of $10.4m. The river property in front at 15 Iris Avenue with an area of 1496m2 he also sold in 1987 for $1.2m at auction.
Beyond Real Estate
Reg is not only well known in the Western Suburbs, he is also a first-class fly fisherman representing Australia in the historical World Fly Fishing Championships in 1987, 1993 and 1994. He was also invited to the first World Masters Fly Fishing championships held in Patagonia in Chile in 2013.
Reg also plays for and sponsors the Dalkeith Tennis Club and is an active member of the Nedlands Golf Club, Royal Perth Yacht Club, Western Fly Fishers Club and Dalkeith Bowling Club. He also enjoys tying salt water and fresh water flies in his spare time – no wonder his fly box is nearly empty! He is as hooked on real estate as he is on fishing!
