With Covid restrictions finally lifted, I welcomed a long-awaited fly fishing trip with a mate from Tasmania to Twizel, South Island, New Zealand in the McKenzie Country north of Queenstown, accompanied by our fishing guide Will Spry. It was a trip that produced some of the best river fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout that I’ve ever experienced.
This is a bold statement considering fishing trips I’ve had to Patagonia, Chile in 2014 in the World Masters Fly Fishing Championships, as well as previous World Fly Fishing Championships that I’ve been privileged to have been part of: England in 1987, Norway and Finland/ Russia in the late 1980s and Kamloops Canada in 1993. On our Canadian trip we had the World Leading Fly Fishing Authority, Dr Brian Chan as our gillie showing the Australian team how to fish the Chironomid Insect Cycle!)
During our New Zealand trip we caught so many beautiful, superb fighting trout that were all safely released back into their environment!
Batteries recharged, I’m now ready to get my teeth back into selling real estate with Reg Ransom Real Estate!
